Flavor Your Water With Cucumber
Feb 19th
We all know we need to drink more water. The thing is, sometimes, it gets a little boring. Water is, well, just water. There are times when I know I’m thirsty, and I get myself a tall glass of cool, clear water, and just drink in it’s freshness. But, other times, a little extra flavor might help. One way to “spice” up your water is to add, of all things, cucumber. You can slice a cucumber, and drop it into a pitcher of water, allowing the essence and flavor to infuse into the water. It is really quite delicious!

Blueberry Pickin’
Feb 2nd
Last spring I went out blueberry picking for the first time ever. There is a farm near my house where they have planted row after row after row of blueberries. Some of the bushes are 30 years old, and the berries grow so thick you don’t even have to move- just stand there and fill your bucket! I never knew how easy it was to pick blueberries, and how absolutely delicious they are fresh off the bush. I went back 3 times before the season was over, and now I am eagerly waiting for this season’s berries to be ready.

Although fats have gotten a bad name lately, they are really essential for our overall health and well being. The problem is knowing the difference between the good fats and the bad fats. They provide protection and support for the vital organs.

First and formost, take your cue from your baby. Baby will eat when he’s hungry, and stop when he’s full. Fortunately, the little ones have not had time to pick up any bad hapbits in this area. His nutritional needs will vary from time to time also, so there are no hard and fast rules. He will eat More >
How Fresh is Fresh? A Case for Your Local Farmers’ Market
Oct 13th
Naturally when we think of wholesome, healthy foods, we think right away of fresh vegetables. And, it’s true, fresh vegetables are the highest in nutritional value. However, just because you bought vegetable from the produce section of your grocer, does not really guarantee that you are getting the freshness you expect.
Some vegetables have spent quite a bit of time in process and transit on their way from the farm to your nearby supermarket. From the pickers, the cleaners, the packers, the trucks, the distributors, and finally your local shop, each stage takes time. Often the vegetables you put in your More >
The Best Benefit of Eating Fruit- Weight Loss
Sep 20th
Better for you, and much healthier than taking diet supplements, or getting radical with the latest fad diet, is the wonderful world of fruit. Eating at least five portions a day will fill you up, and cut down on snacking. My sister always said to me, “if you want to lose weight, eat more fruit!”
For one thing, fruit has lots of fiber in it. This helps the body feel full, and decreases the tendency to snack later. Even if you do wish to snack later, just eat another piece of fruit. Try a different kind for variety, as this will More >
